Pray in the church or wherever you are at 9am

Week 1 John 12: 37 – 48    Unbelief

1st Even after Jesus…they still would not believe in him

Pray for those whose view of Jesus is distorted such that they find it difficult to believe in him. This is Tearfund’s global poverty prayer week. Pray for those living in poverty throughout the world. Ask God how you can help.

2nd …he saw Jesus’ glory and spoke about him

Ask Jesus to enable you to share what you know of him and his glory with friends and neighbours. Pray for those in Haiti still suffering through the loss of loved ones, of homes, of so much. Pray for the aid organisations. Pray for the staff of St Johns.

3rd ...they would not confess their faith for fear…

Ask Jesus to give us confidence to confess our faith. Pray for what to say to family and friends. Pray for those affected by the global recession. Pray for fairer trade practices between growers and buyers, farmers and supermarkets.

4th no-one who believes in me should stay in darkness

Ask Jesus to show his light into any dark corners in your life, and to lead you out from them. Pray for all those in healing prayer ministry, in St Johns or elsewhere. Pray for those throughout the world who are impacted by HIV or AIDS.

5th I did not come to judge the world, but to save it

We are called to offer compassion and not condemnation. Pray for people in organisations like Tear Fund working for peace, justice and rehabilitation in the world. Pray for the Town Pastors and their prayer supporters and the police.

Week 2: John 12: 20 – 36     Prediction of Jesus’ Death

8th We would like to see Jesus

Jesus came into the world as saviour for all. Pray that his worldwide church will reach out further, so that everyone can hear his message of love. Pray for the preparations for the Uganda mission trip.

9th The man who loves his life will lose it

To what extent are you and I tied to the things of this world which detract us from God? Ask God to show you what you should be turning away from – and the strength of will to do it. Pray for all who minister in St Johns and at Bredfield.

10th where I am my servant also will be.

Jesus calls us to be with him, in the dark places in this world, among those who are hurting. Where is he calling you to be with him? Pray for those who are still struggling with the aftermath of flooding in Cumbria and elsewhere in the world. Pray for Fairtrade and for justice in trading. Pray for CMS and the Robinson family.

11th Father, glorify your name

Spend a few minutes glorifying our Heavenly Father, thanking him for all his blessings. Pray for each of the congregations in St Johns – 9am, 11am, Vision, Café Church, Lounge at Costas, Wednesday morning. Pray for the team going to Uganda and their travel.

12th Who is this Son of Man?

A large proportion of adults and children in this country do not know anything about God or Jesus, the Son of Man. Pray that this can be turned round. Pray for those who go into the schools in Woodbridge to talk about Jesus and his love. Pray for the Street Pastors, going out this evening.

Week 3: John 13: 31 – 38     Denial

15th My children…

What a wonderful thought – that we are his children. Pray for Crèche, Junior Church and Cell groups, the children, leaders and helpers. Pray for the work of SAMS and for the Browne family.

16th Love one another

Ask God to show you how you can be more effective in your love and care for other members of the church family. Pray for the homeless and those threatened with losing their homes. Pray for the Soup Run in Ipswich and the work in the red light district.

17th By this all men will know that you are my disciples

Pray that the love which exists between the members of our church family will spread out into the community, attracting more people to our Lord. Continue to pray for the team in Uganda. Pray for those who live and work in Woodbridge.

18th I will lay down my life for you

Are we really prepared to go that far for our Lord? There may, however, be some area of your life that he does want you to lay down for his sake. Pray for the Gideons, for the Prison Fellowship and all who take God’s word out onto the streets, into schools, hotels, hostels, prisons.

19th …you will disown me three times

Even though Peter did disown Jesus he was re-commissioned. Give thanks that our Lord can use us, weak as we are, in his service. Offer him your failures as well as your strengths for him to use to bring others to his saving grace. Pray for the Street Pastors as they go out this evening.

Week 4: John 12: 1 – 10     Anointing

22nd A dinner was given in Jesus’ honour

We may not be able to offer Jesus a meal – but there may be someone we can invite to a meal in his name. Pray for the safe return of the Uganda team. Pray for those who prepare meals and help with coffee in St Johns. Pray for Just42.

23rd Martha served

Martha often gets a bad press by comparison with her sister Mary, but she did what she knew best to make Jesus welcome. Pray that we too may be encouraged to do what we do best for Jesus and the kingdom of God. Pray for our house groups and their leaders.

24th she poured [pure nard] on Jesus’ feet

Anointing the feet was the start of anointing a body for burial and loosening hair a sign of mourning. We come before God with our faults and errors, asking him to forgive us, knowing that he loves us. Pray for outreach to Woodbridge.

25th You will always have the poor among you

Pray for those who struggle to eat, who do not have drinkable water or a roof over their heads. Pray for organisations like Shelter and the Salvation Army which help the poor and homeless. Pray for the poor who live in Woodbridge.

26th many of the Jews were …putting their faith in [Jesus]

Despite their prejudices and threats of expulsion from fellowship some Jews did turn to Jesus. Pray for those who you know whose prejudices or fear of others keep them from coming to Jesus. Pray for the Street Pastors.

Week 5: John 12: 12 – 19     Kingship

29th They took palm branches and went…to meet him

Jesus is a conquering hero, but not in the way expected of him. As we hold our palm crosses give thanks that he comes as a gentle king. Pray for the Prayer Ministry Team. Pray for CPAS.

30th Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord

Pray for all the clergy and ministers in Woodbridge and Melton. Pray for Churches Together in our town.

31st see, your king is coming

Welcome Jesus into your workplace, into your home, into your school, today. Pray for those around you who have not yet accepted him as king of their lives. Pray for those who lead our worship week by week. Pray for the Alive Festival.

1st At first his disciples did not understand

There are many things we do not understand; but this is where we need to have faith and trust in God. Offer those areas where you struggle to God, tell him how you feel. You may wish to share these concerns with other Christian friends. Pray for the PCC and the good governance of God’s church in this place.

2nd Look how the whole world has gone after him.

Pray for the worldwide reach of the gospel. Pray for those in Woodbridge who are lost; for those who are seeking but do not know where to look. Pray for the Town Pastors as they set out and for their prayer supporters. Pray for the police.
