Youth and Children's Ministries

We attach great importance to our church's work with young people, both within the families who come to St Johns and within the wider community.

We also work with others in supporting a new local youth initiative "Just42" - a Christian youth trust formed to promote and develop quality youth work in the local area.

Junior Church

Junior Church seeks to offer the highest quality Christian teaching and care to young people aged 11 and under on a Sunday Morning for both the 9 and 11am services during term time. As we regard these young people as part of today's church they will experience a mixture of teaching within their own age group and times together as part of the whole church. The general pattern for services is as follows:

1st Sunday in the month

Church Family Service

2nd Sunday

Holy Communion / Communion Praise

3rd Sunday

Morning Service / Morning Praise

4th Sunday

Holy Communion / Communion Praise

5th Sunday

Healing Service/Confirmation Sunday

During Family Service and Festivals (eg Easter) all ages worship together. On the 2nd Sunday children finish Junior Church to join the adults at about 9.50am or 11.50am, so that they can come forward during Communion and receive Communion or a Blessing, as you feel appropriate. For 3rd Sunday, Morning Praise, the children are in church for about 20 minutes before going to their own groups in Junior Church, and on the 4th & 5th Sundays they are in Junior Church for the whole time.

Parents are always expected to collect their children from crèche and Bubbles. Other children are returned to the Church by their group leaders. Please be aware that once children are back in Church they are the responsibility of their parents or guardians.
