We attach great importance to our church's work with young people, both within the families who come to St Johns and within the wider community.

We also work with others in supporting a new local youth initiative "Just42" - a Christian youth trust formed to promote and develop quality youth work in the local area.

Junior Church

Junior Church seeks to offer the highest quality Christian teaching and care to young people aged 11 and under on a Sunday Morning for both the 9 and 11am services during term time. As we regard these young people as part of today's church they will experience a mixture of teaching within their own age group and times together as part of the whole church. The general pattern for services is as follows:

During Family Service and Festivals (eg Easter) all ages worship together. For all the other morning services the children start in church then go to their group in the Old Vicarage. On the 2nd Sunday children finish Junior Church to join the adults at about 9.50am or 11.50am, so that they can come forward during Communion and receive Communion or a Blessing, as you feel appropriate. For 3rd Sunday, Morning Praise, the children are in church for about 20 minutes before going to their own groups in Junior Church, and on the 4th Sunday they are in Junior Church for the whole time.

Parents are always expected to collect their children from crèche and Bubbles or Splashers. Other children are returned to the Church by their group leaders. Please be aware that once children are back in Church they are the responsibility of their parents or guardians.
