Giving

Thank you for your generous financial donations, without which, the work of St John’s would not be possible!

We also now have a contactless payment machine in the church where you can give.  look out for that as you enter the church. it's next to the servery in the foyer.

(If you are registered for Gift Aid and wish to use the online giving page via one of the methods above, please complete the Gift Aid details if you are able to each time, so we can identify your gift, however, the best way to give regularly to St John's is via one of the other methods below)

Giving by Bank Transfer

One off donations can easily be made by online bank transfer if you have online banking. Please contact the treasurer if you want to do this.

Giving Regularly

Setting up a standing order with your Bank or Building Society is easy and payments can be made weekly, monthly, quarterly or annually.  If you would like to give by Standing Order, please contact the treasurer via the office who will provide you with the information you need.

The Church is now able to offer direct debit payments. If you wish to use this means, please contact the treasurer who will initiate the process.

Changes

Please notify Richard Bolt, St John’s Treasurer, in any of the following circumstances:

  • cancel or change Standing Order
  • change name or address
  • no longer pay sufficient tax on income/capital gains for us to claim Gift Aid

Other Ways of Giving

  1. Gift Aid envelopes, available in the church foyer, can be placed in the collection plate on a Sunday, or posted to the office for collection.
  2. Weekly or monthly stewardship envelopes are available from the Giving Secretary.
  3. Cash or cheques can be placed in the collection plate at any service, or posted to the Office.

Our Treasurer Richard Bolt and our Giving Secretary Robert Brockbank are happy to answer any questions you may have about giving.

Gift Aid

If you are a UK tax payer, giving by Gift Aid is very beneficial to St John’s. It allows the church to claim back an extra 25% on top of your donation, at no extra cost to you. You can download a Gift Aid Declaration Form below.  Please return it to the Church Office in a sealed envelope marked for the attention of the Giving Secretary.

If you make use of the online giving page, and are registered with us for Gift Aid, please ensure you complete the Gift Aid information every time or we are unable to identify your gift.

If you are giving to St John’s under the Gift Aid scheme and you find that you aren’t paying enough tax to support your Gift Aid donations, or you’ve got questions about this, please contact Robert Brockbank (St John’s Gift Aid Secretary). HMRC state that it is the responsibility as the donor to make up any shortfall if there is an over payment. However, we may be able to adjust a future Gift Aid claim to repay any tax due on your behalf.

Will you make a pledge?

We feel the biblical approach to long term giving is through prayer and careful thought, to do this we have a Commitment Card that we encourage you to complete at the start of each year and return to the Church Office in a sealed envelope, marked for the attention of the Giving Secretary.  All cards are treated confidentially.  These cards are only an indication of your expected giving and we fully understand that as circumstances change, so may your giving.  Knowing what the intended giving is of the church family aids us to plan and budget for the year(s) ahead and how we can resource the necessary upkeep and activities of the church in line with our vision to Love God, Love others and Share Jesus.
