9am Sunday Congregation
The nine o’clock is the quieter of our Sunday services.
Perhaps more reflective and formal in tone, we enjoy singing a mix of traditional and modern music accompanied by either the organ or a small band. We aim to use a mix of liturgy, although currently Common Worship for Morning Prayer and Holy Communion, depending on the week. This is often supplemented by impromptu sharing by a member of the congregation of a recent experience of God's guidance and blessing in their lives. Our sermons are part of St John’s bible-based teaching programme.
We offer a warm welcome before each service and time for a friendly chat over tea or coffee at the end. Every week there are members of the prayer ministry team available to pray confidentially with anyone who requires this. Services normally take about an hour and a quarter though many stay longer to enjoy fellowship with friends and visitors.
The 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month are Holy Communion services and the 3rd is Morning Prayer. On the 1st Sunday of the month we have All Age Worship but we are experimenting currently with some changes to this service. On the first Sunday coffee and croissants are served at 8.30 am. Everyone is welcome to join us.
Although children are very welcome to be with us at 9 o’clock we have no special teaching for them nor do we have a crèche at the present time. However, we have a small vestry where parents may sit with young children and still hear the service; they will find pre-school toys available here.
Do join us - we'd love to meet you
